Why lines steam
When respected (sharp) money hits one side, books move the price immediately — both to limit exposure and because sharp action carries information. A move from 2.10 to 1.85 without team news is the classic signature.
Reading it
A steam move is a signal about where informed money went, not a guarantee: following it late means taking a worse price than the players who caused it. The honest use is context — comparing your own estimate against a market that has already reacted.
