Possession is not dominance
Counter-attacking sides regularly win with 35–40% of the ball: they concede possession by design and strike into open space. Sterile passing in your own half inflates the number without threatening anyone.
How to read it
Always pair possession with shots, dangerous attacks and xG. 65% possession with 2 shots is ball-keeping; 45% with 15 shots is an assault.
