How it works
The handicap is added to the final score before settlement. Home −1 means the home side must win by two or more; win by exactly one goal returns the stake (push).
Quarter lines
A handicap of −1.25 is two bets in one: half the stake on −1, half on −1.5. Win by one goal → half refunded, half lost. Win by two → both halves win. Lines ending in .25 or .75 always work this way.
Why bettors prefer it to 1X2
Two outcomes instead of three, and bookmakers usually apply a lower margin to handicaps than to 1X2. Most professional football markets are quoted through the Asian line.
