The math that kills it
The stake needed to recover loss X and win Y at odds K is S = (X + Y) / (K − 1). At even odds each step roughly doubles: 10, 20, 40, 80, 160, 320 — six losses in and you are staking 32 units to win one. Losing streaks of six happen to everyone.
Why it cannot work
Chasing does not change the expected value of a single bet — every step still pays the margin. It only concentrates the risk of ruin into one bad evening, and table limits plus a finite bankroll guarantee that evening arrives. The disciplined alternative is flat staking: see bankroll management.
